The genetics of the white horse unravelled
The white horse is an icon for dignity which has had a huge impact on human culture across the world. An international team led by researchers at Uppsala University has now identified the mutation causing this spectacular trait and show that white horses carry an identical mutation that can be traced back to a common ancestor that lived thousands of years ago.

Olink and scientists at Uppsala University founds a new instrument company:
Olink AB, a Swedish biotechnology company, has recently founded the instrument company Q-linea AB together with scientists at Uppsala University and Uppsala University Holding AB. Q-linea will develop a new, rapid, and sensitive detection instrument for analysis of, e.g., biological warfare agents. The main customer is currently the Swedish defense material procurement agency, FMV.

Tumörforskare utsedd till Sällskapsdjurens forskningsfonds första stipendiat

Doktoranden Patricio Rivera vid institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper på SLU får ett stipendium på 25 000 kronor ur Sällskapsdjurens forskningsfond. Stipendiet avser stöd till ett forskningsprojekt om genomiska markörer i juvertumörer hos hund. Juvertumörer hos hund påminner mycket om bröstcancer. En av förhoppningarna med forskningsprojektet är att bidra till förståelsen av sjukdomen hos både människa och hund.
