Case: NLSDays

Background

Nordic Life Science Days, the largest Nordic partnering conference within life science, has run since 2013. With roughly 1000 participants yearly since the start, it is the place to be for making new business contacts, starting collaborations and networking for both small and medium enterprises.

Problem

Industrial input early is crucial for successful commercial development of most innovation projects. If this competence is lacking in the team, partnering meetings like NLSDays are invaluable arenas to get industrial contacts. The challenge for many start-ups is to understand what information the larger companies need to see and how to package their assets to draw interest. And some of them have no experience of partnering meetings and investment panels.

Solution

Uppsala BIO has since the start of NLSDays offered subsidized participation for small companies in the region.  The offer also includes coaching to optimize their success at the conference. Uppsala BIO promotes the companies before the conference and in the Stockholm-Uppsala booth during the conference. The companies also get feedback on their slide deck, one-pager and company pitch as well as tips and tricks for how to optimally utilize the partneringONE system as preparations for their participation.

Result

So far Uppsala BIO has supported in total 34 unique start-ups with the participation at NLSDays. Evaluations shows that the companies are very satisfied with the coaching, and the context that the Stockholm-Uppsala booth constitutes and that it is a valuable offer to test participation in a partnering conference at a lower cost and with business coaching.
