Anders Malmberg

Professor of Economic Geography at Uppsala University


Anders Malmberg is Professor of Economic Geography at Uppsala University since 1999, and Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University since 2012. He was Director of the Centre for Research on Innovation and Industrial Dynamics (CIND) 2003-2011, and Dean of the Faculty of Social Science 2008-2011.
He has held visiting research positions at Durham University, UK and at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study in the Social Sciences. He is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Science, The Royal Society of Science at Uppsala and Academia Europaea.
His research has focused on industrial dynamics and local and regional economic development, with an emphasis on the study of innovation and transformation processes in clusters and innovation systems.
