Why I work at Uppsala BIO:

During my career in the sciences, industry and innovation support, I have witnessed how Uppsala BIO has succeed in becoming a hallmark of quality. Now that the organisation is entering a new phase, it feels both exciting and fun to get on board and enjoy the ride.

I am passionate about:

Channelling ideas from academia via small start-ups in partnership with existing (large) companies to develop tomorrow’s solutions to today’s problems in the life sciences. If we can do this faster, easier, cheaper and with better results than today, so much the better!

My education and previous work experience:

Uppsala University is my alma mater. The Pharmacia Group gave me an early opportunity to work internationally for 15 years, and thereby the big business perspective.

I then worked for some of Sweden’s best business incubators, partly in hands-on roles and partly in charge of incubator programmes. There I gained insight into the problems new ventures face, both financial and practical. And as the icing on the cake, I have had the privilege of helping to finance some of Sweden’s best life science start-ups.

I have a genuine interest in everything to do with life science, and have been lucky enough to be ‘in the right place’ when and where things happen. I have also gained experience of quickly identifying needs, picking up ideas for solutions, and making sure they can be realised.

Then I try to live as I learn. For example, I participate in several clinical studies on cardiovascular disease and general health. Let’s face it, a muscular biopsy only hurts a little bit …
