Project management and competence support for national strategic innovation programs.
Uppsala BIO has been a board member of the Strategic Innovation Program Swelife since its inception in 2014 and, together with STUNS, even worked during 2012–2014 with players across the country to establish the organisation. We have also acted as a nationwide project manager for national calls from the two strategic innovation programs Swelife and MedTech4Health, which are presented below. Many other projects and SMEs have also received competence support. In addition, various strategic initiatives run from Uppsala have been funded by Swelife since 2014.
One example is the development of a national model for biobanking coordinated by Uppsala University Hospital. Another is Patient Overview in Cancer Care, a project led by the Regional Cancer Center Uppsala-Örebro to create national unified real-time systems. Uppsala BIO has also acted as regional information coordinator in East Central Sweden and has laid the foundation for Uppsala University Innovation to take over regional co-ordination from 2018 in order to increase its national presence.
