Competence provision with the Technical College of Uppland
Uppsala BIO is responding proactively to meet the increased need for skilled employees in the life science industry.
Competence supply is critical to industry’s ability to grow. To cope with both increased business expansion and personnel retirement, the life science industry needs more trained staff.
As early as 2010, Uppsala BIO took up this challenge in association with the Technical College of Uppland and during 2015–2016, competence and skills provision has received increased focus, partly through participation of the European Social Fund (ESF) project SMART Industry.
Since 2016, together with the Technical College of Uppland and Region Uppsala, and in close cooperation with industry, Uppsala BIO is developing a model to identify the skills needed in manufacture and match production staff with the requirements of both the industrial and educational sectors.
