Sustainable development

At STUNS Life Science we promote the growth of a strong and sustainable life science sector to make life science more competitive. We want to achieve this by increasing understanding of how an increased commitment to implement Agenda 2030 – the UN’s 17 global sustainability goals for sustainable development in companies’ business strategies, and our community, can promote the growth of a strong and sustainable life science sector.

Regional competitiveness must go hand in hand with sustainability goals – economic growth, social inclusion and long-term protection of the environment must be included in everything that is done. At STUNS Life Science we contribute to strengthening the work with Agenda 2030 in the Uppsala region through two of our current projects, BIO-X Accelerate and Hållbar klusterutveckling, where we focus on how a collaboration with implementing Agenda 2030 in the region’s Life Science industry can strengthen cluster development and industry competitiveness in the long term.

Our goal is to increase collaboration and strengthen cluster formation between business, academia and society within Life Science in the Uppsala region.

Why should you work with the sustainable development goals?

The goals can serve as a map in your sustainability work. In addition, the goals are a good and concrete tool to relate to in your analyzes, plans, accounts and – not least – in your communication.

By using the global goals, you can put what you contribute to the business in a larger context, and show that it not only plays a role at the local level but also contributes to a more sustainable world.

How does life science companies in Uppsala work with sustainability?

Look at how some of the Life Science companies and support companies in Uppsala work showing innovative ways of working with the social-, economic- and ekological impacts and how everyone can contribute in their way to meet the Agenda goals and about the importance of a strong and sustainable cluster for the their development.
