Meet our partner CTC Clinical Trial Consultants
Translating science into treatment with hospital-based early-phase clinical trials
CTC Clinical Trial Consultants, with its head-office in Uppsala, primarily acts as a full-service contract research organisation (CRO). By providing their own clinic they also offer a more complete solution. Moreover, in 2017 the national business newspaper Dagens Industri for the second year running recognised CTC as a ‘Gazelle Company’, i.e. one of the fastest growing businesses in the country.
Rapid growth plus a clinic of its own
CTC was formed in 2011 by former employees of the Berzelius Clinical Research Centre in Linköping and Quintiles, one of the world’s largest CROs. CEO Anders Millerhovf is one of the founders.

CTC Clinical Trial Consultants
“The primary clientele for CTC ranges from SMEs to large life science companies who need support to perform clinical trials. We also collaborate with other CROs where they can offer complimentary aspects of the clinical trial process”.
Anders Millerhovf has a background in both clinical care and research, which is perhaps one explanation for CTC’s rapid growth and success: since 2011, the company has increased from 3 to 50 employees, clearly motivating its second successive Gasell Company award.
Uppsala is just one of several locations where you can find CTC. The company acts primarily as a full-service CRO but offers a more complete solution by providing its own clinics with a total of 24 beds. Consultation is offered for clinical trials spanning phase 0 to IIa, including performing the study, research guidance, quality control, recruitment of subjects, etc.
New services and growth plans
“In September this year we launched a new service that delivers a clear, streamlined pathway to first-in-human milestones with the contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) Recipharm”, says Anders Millerhovf. Recipharm Pathway to Clinic™ takes projects from early-phase formulation development through to clinical trial implementation with patients. The service helps companies ranging from small, virtual firms to big pharma to quickly generate data and build value into their substances.
Today CTC employs almost 50 staff members and envisages continued healthy growth over the coming years, mainly in the US and European markets. To grow bigger on a global scale, Anders Millerhovf mentions the need for a global marketing strategy, which is not a priority at this time but something that he wishes Uppsala BIO would support in the future.
